TOKAN Foundation for Children and Young People

Equity is so much more than a word - it is our driving force. At TOKAN Foundation, we believe that access to quality education should be a basic human right, and no child should be so denied because of their or their parent’s socio-economic status, disability, gender, health status, religious beliefs, amongst other factors.

ABOUT US

TOKAN Foundation for Children and Young People is a registered charity with CAC/IT/No. 113059. We are dedicated to providing financial, educational, and social wellness support to vulnerable children and young people. Through partnerships with individuals, schools, local communities, businesses, charitable organizations, and the government, we aim to adequately empower our beneficiaries to become self-sufficient and positively-impacting members of their communities.

 

 

OUR MISSION

Through our various programs, we strive to one day create a world where no child or young person is denied a future of possibilities. Our goal is to bring hope and comfort to more than 600 children and families each year.

What we do

We carry out our mandate of ensuring that vulnerable children and young people receive needed financial, educational, medical, and social support by leveraging on donations and partnerships. We provide scholarships, textbooks, school supplies, after school lessons, daily stipends, and other educational support. We also mentor and advocate for children where necessary.

 

scholarships

Each term, we provide academic scholarships to students in public and private schools in Nigeria. Where possible, we also provide disbursement to purchase textbooks for students and other educational materials.

school supplies

Each term, we work with schools and other institutions for children to purchase and supply needed school supplies to students.

social support

We regularly engage with individuals, entities and institutions for children by assisting with necessary welfare and social support.

 

Legal support

In 2022, we launched the Child Rights and Juvenile Justice Center to provide legal support in and out of the court room to children and juveniles.

Mentoring

We work with adults and professionals to mentor children in schools and other institutions for children.

advocate

Whenever possible, we constantly advocate for the rights and welfare of children. We also regularly illuminate their voice through our various platforms and through Children of Nigeria.
